Librarians, as educators and innovators, are uniquely placed to foster access points and tools to meet users wherever their research skills and digital competencies are, as well as access digital spaces successfully.
Putting uWaterloo on the map – Google-style
The University of Waterloo Library’s Geospatial Centre helped to put more of the University of Waterloo on the map this fall! Geospatial Centre staff hosted a two-day Google Map Maker event in November, aimed at creating complete and accurate maps of the uWaterloo campuses.
This event allowed the uWaterloo community to share information about the places they know and love on campus with the world. More than 200 people registered for the event and more than 100 attended the main site in the Student Life Centre. The result has made a permanent mark on Google Maps.
Below are examples that show a change in the main campus before and after the event.
