Joe Pateman

Joe Pateman is a PhD candidate studying politics at the University of Nottingham, with a specific interest in the disciplines of Marxist political theory and international political economy. Joe has written several essays from the Marxist perspective, on topics such as globalization, inequality, poverty, international relations, political strategy, racism and hegemony. Joe is currently writing a dissertation that analyses the relationship between Leninism and democracy, and he is planning to specialize within this area while pursuing an academic career in politics. Joe studied overseas as an exchange student at the University of Hong Kong during the midst of the protests that occurred there in 2014. He has also visited the Democratic People’s Republic of North Korea as a student ambassador, and he is interested in bringing the North Korean philosophy of Juche into mainstream western academic discourse.
